Who Caused the Mutiny on HMS Bounty?
Mr Paul BRUNTON
The overthrow of William Bligh (1754-1817) as captain of HMS Bounty on 28 April 1789 is the most famous mutiny in history. Why did it happen? And why has it loomed so large for over 200 years?
Paul was the Senior Curator at the Mitchell Library, State Library of New South Wales until November 2012. He has worked with the Mitchell Library’s Australiana collections since 1973.
