After 20 years f marriage, things between Mona and Gieri have lost their sparkle. Deciding she wants to rekindle the flame, Mona seeks help from Nanda Sharma, the village's new pastor, who has Indian roots. But instead of giving her the sort of pastoral advice befitting a man of the cloth, the pastor encourages her to employ worldly means and practice the arts of love.

Moscow 1953. After being in power for nearly 30 years, Soviet dictator Josef Stalin takes ill and quickly dies. Now the members of the Council of Ministers scramble for power. At the forefront of the machinations is NKVD Chief Lavrenti Beria, the most feared man in the USSR after Stalin. Council member Nikita Khrushchev does his best to maintain order and thwart Beria's plans.
