Welcome to Narrabri Region!

With a mix of country charm and soul, Narrabri Region is captivating, and inviting. Our way of life is simply relaxed and genuinely warm.

Covering 13,000 square-kilometres, our region is the heart of the rich Namoi Valley in north west NSW.

Renowned for producing some of the world’s highest quality wheat, cotton, fat lambs and beef, and home to several research facilities, Narrabri Region is truly an agricultural wonderland. All this is joined by a wealth of excellent tourist attractions sure to keep visitors entertained for days.

The Newell and Kamilaroi Highways run through Narrabri Region, bringing people from all compass points. With easy access, major attractions, top rate facilities and accommodation, many conferences and high profile performers are drawn to the area.

One glimpse of a clear night sky will leave you with no doubts as to why this region is known as “Big Sky” country.

Star-filled night’s skies have facilitated the growth of the CSIRO Australia Telescope Compact Array, whose six radio telescopes are gleaming beacons of scientific advancement. The natural wonder of  Mt Kaputar National Park will keep bushwalkers  entralled, or search for the Yowie in the Pilliga, the largest forest in NSW or simply view the pictureesque patchwork of seemingly endless fields of cotton and wheat are sure to impress.

Add the Pilliga hot artesian bore bath, Narrabri Fish Farm, historical museums, Yarrie Lake, craft shops, The Crossing Theatre , bird watching, fishing and just exploring our fabulous region to the mix and you’re guaranteed many fun-filled days.

Coal seam gas exploration and coal mining are also now a part of the Region’s expanding economic base. These industries have created diverse employment and ancillary business opportunities.

We hope this tourism information will add to your knowledge and enjoyment of our Region and make you feel welcome. Our Visitor Information Centre is here to help you and, with our great selection of local souvenirs, historical books and delicious regional produce, it is an essential stop on your Narrabri Region itinerary.

Enjoy!
