Covering 13,000 square-kilometres, our region is the heart of the rich Namoi Valley in north west NSW.
Renowned for producing some of the world’s highest quality wheat, cotton, fat lambs and beef, and home to several research facilities, Narrabri Region is truly an agricultural wonderland. All this is joined by a wealth of excellent tourist attractions sure to keep visitors entertained for days.
The Newell and Kamilaroi Highways run through Narrabri Region, bringing people from all compass points. With easy access, major attractions, top rate facilities and accommodation, many conferences and high profile performers are drawn to the area.
One glimpse of a clear night sky will leave you with no doubts as to why this region is known as “Big Sky” country.
Star-filled night’s skies have facilitated the growth of the CSIRO Australia Telescope Compact Array, whose six radio telescopes are gleaming beacons of scientific advancement. The natural wonder of Mt Kaputar National Park will keep bushwalkers entralled, or search for the Yowie in the Pilliga, the largest forest in NSW or simply view the pictureesque patchwork of seemingly endless fields of cotton and wheat are sure to impress.
Add the Pilliga hot artesian bore bath, Narrabri Fish Farm, historical museums, Yarrie Lake, craft shops, The Crossing Theatre , bird watching, fishing and just exploring our fabulous region to the mix and you’re guaranteed many fun-filled days.
Coal seam gas exploration and coal mining are also now a part of the Region’s expanding economic base. These industries have created diverse employment and ancillary business opportunities.

A trip inside the Narrabri Region Visitor Information Centre is an experience in itself. The centre is brimming with fascinating information, delicious local and regional produce, and displays that will impress and captivate you. Here you can learn about the district’s best attractions, discover local history, sit and listen to our Kamilaroi history and read about regional farming practices. The highlight is a cotton display, which boasts a genuine giant red cotton picker that guests can climb into and “operate”.
Local and regional produce includes Lindy’s Marinated Sundried Tomatoes, Nelson’s Honey, Tall Poppy Gourmet relishes and dressings, Rosie’s Honey Mustard Dressing, Eden Valley Olives, The Spice Trading Company spice and dip mixes, Treasured Traditions jams, Murrungundy Pistachios and Jojoba Oil products
You will also find a fantastic selection of souvenirs to remind you of your time in the region. From hat pins, caps, collectible spoons and stickers to thermos mugs, drink bottles, T-shirts and beautiful hessian bags. We also have a stylish range of Linen Press stationery, tea towels, mugs, aprons, tote and shopper bags, double and single oven mitts, and pot holders, in botanical, maritime, blue wren, chicken and coloured themes.
